Handmade Ceramics for your Home and Garden
Handmade decorative and functional ceramics, inspired by the materials and textures of the home and garden I grew up in and in which I once again live.
About Me
After many years of living overseas and then resettling in England, I once again live in the small Somerset village in which I grew up (the very same house in fact).
It is in my garden studio here that I happily make a variety of both functional and decorative ceramics to be enjoyed in your own home or garden. I take my inspiration from many sources, love experimenting and am fascinated by the unpredictability of ash glazes (made from the wood we burn in our stove), smoking and raku finishes on decorative items.
I write a weekly chronicle here where I share what I’ve been up to both in the studio and the garden (or indeed anywhere else I’ve had the good fortune to visit). It’s a good way to get to know me a little, and subscribers are the first to know when I have pieces to sell.
I am lucky enough to have a long suffering husband, two lovely daughters and a shaggy lurcher called Gertie whom I’m ridiculously fond of. While I’m part of a small village community, over the last few years I have made some wonderful friends online and also love my digital community.
I aspire for the objects I make to be the ones people reach for most often as their favourite, not something kept in a cupboard or on a shelf to gather dust, but to be used and enjoyed for as long as it lasts.
I enjoy sharing the trials and tribulations of my creative life, and there’s something about the process of writing that often helps me cement ideas or thoughts. I’ve written on various blogs over the years, and love making personal connections this way - plus subscribers will always get first dibs on anything for sale!
